About The John H Lloyd Neuropsychiatry Prize
The John H Lloyd Neuropsychiatry Prize is awarded to an RANZCP trainee or newly qualified Fellow or Affiliate for the best Scholarly Project or equivalent research activity.
Dr. Lloyd was Director of the Statewide Neuropsychiatric Centre / Unit in Victoria between 1972 and 2001. Dr Lloyd was an esteemed clinician in neuropsychiatry and psychiatry whose opinion was often seen as 'the gold standard'. He was a clinical mentor and teacher for several generations of psychiatry trainees in Victoria.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Prize will be awarded for the best Scholarly Project or equivalent research activity focused on issues relevant to clinical neuropsychiatry. Clinical neuropsychiatry is a clinical subspecialty of psychiatry which assesses and treats psychiatric disorders which are associated with suspected or confirmed brain pathology.
- The Prize is open to current RANZCP trainees, or Fellows or Affiliate members within two years of obtaining their primary specialist psychiatry qualifications prior to the annual awards program open date.
- Applicants shall have completed meritorious research in the field of clinical neuropsychiatry, which should have been performed at least partly in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand.
- The research can take the form of active research, a substantial quality improvement project, case series or literature review. Submissions would usually be made on an individual basis (lead author), but two or more applicants may apply as a group if their contribution to the work is as co-leads.
Previous recipients of the Prize will not be eligible to receive the Prize on a further occasion.
Application Process
Entry is by application only. RANZCP members who meet the criteria are required to submit an anonymised cover letter and an anonymised copy of their research work (which is the subject of the Prize) by the due date. Submissions may take the form of:
- A Scholarly Project
- A published article
- A draft article suitable for publication
Where there are multiple authors involved, the applicant would in usual circumstances be the principal author. Where this is not the case, the application must indicate the contribution of the applicant to the work.
Form of Award
The Prize comprises:
• A framed award certificate
• A$500
• An invitation to accept the award at the College Ceremony during Congress.
It does not include travel support or registration for the recipient(s) to attend Congress or the Section Conference.
