Description
The Addiction Psychiatry Prize is awarded to a trainee (Associate member), trainee or Fellow currently enrolled in a Certificate of Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry, or a Fellow who has completed a Certificate of Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry within 12 months of award submissions opening (i.e. from 1 September of the prior year onwards).
The prize is an incentive award of the College, designed to encourage achievements and excellence in addiction psychiatry.
Applicants are invited to submit for the prize an anonymised copy of their:
- Certificate of Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry Scholarly Project
- Certificate of Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry Quality Improvement Project
- published article
- draft article suitable for publication in a journal equivalent to Australasian Psychiatry
- case review/study.
Form of award
- A$1500
- Complimentary registration to the International Medicine in Addiction conference
- Invitation to present at the International Medicine in Addiction conference
- A beautifully framed award certificate
- Invitation to accept the award at the College Ceremony during Congress
The prize does not include travel support for the recipient/s to attend Congress or the Faculty Conference.
Additional information
The work submitted must be original work primarily completed by the applicant.
The selection panel will review applications on a confidential basis. Applications are assessed on originality, scientific merit and contribution to the knowledge base of addiction psychiatry.
The prize may be made to one person, or can be shared amongst two or more if their work is of equal merit.
If there are no suitable applicants, the prize will not be awarded for that year.
