About The Howard Cooper Travelling Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
The Howard Cooper Travelling Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry was established in 2006. Named in honour of the late Dr Howard Cooper, a former Chair of the RANZCP’s Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (FCAP), the Fellowship is made annually to a visiting overseas trainee psychiatrist or psychiatrist from the Asia-Pacific region who wishes to gain experience in child and adolescent psychiatry in Australia or New Zealand.
Eligibility Criteria
Visiting overseas trainee psychiatrist or psychiatrist from the Asia-Pacific region.
Application Process
Applications for the Award are made by visiting overseas trainee psychiatrist or psychiatrist from the Asia-Pacific region who wishes to gain experience in child and adolescent psychiatry in Australia or New Zealand.
Written applications should include a curriculum vitae, and a cover letter including the need for training and experience not readily available in the applicant’s home country, and the capacity of the applicant to improve local child and adolescent mental health services on return to their home country.
Nominations are to be sought from organisations funding training fellowships to Australia and New Zealand including AusAID and the World Health Organisation.
Form of Award
It is expected that the Fellowship would be taken to coincide with either the FCAP’s annual conference (at which the recipient would make a formal presentation), or the RANZCP’s annual Congress.
The Fellowship includes an amount of A$2500, an award certificate, plus registration to attend either the Faculty conference or the RANZCP Congress.
