About the Rural Research Award
The RANZCP Rural Research Award is an annual prize awarded to a Trainee or Fellow who has recently obtained Fellowship within the 12 months prior to the application deadline. The prize is an incentive award of the College, designed to encourage research achievements and excellence in rural psychiatry.
Eligibility Criteria
Current Trainees, or Fellows who have achieved Fellowship within the 12 months prior to the application deadline, are eligible to apply. Applicants shall have completed meritorious research, a quality improvement project or case review/study in the field of regional, rural or remote psychiatry. The work submitted should have been completed at least partly in Australia or New Zealand within the two-year period prior to application for the Award.

Previous recipients of the Award will not be eligible to receive the Award on a further occasion.
Application Process
Applicants for the Award are required to submit an anonymised cover letter and an anonymised copy of their work (which is subject of the Award) in accordance with the Awards Submission Process.
Submissions for the Award may take the form of:
- A Fellowship or Advanced Certificate Scholarly Project
- A published article
- A draft article suitable for publication in a journal equivalent to the Australasian Psychiatry
- case review/study
- A quality improvement project
Form of award
- A$1000
- A framed certificate
- An invitation to submit and present their work for publication in the Australasian Psychiatry Journal
- An invitation to accept the award at the College Ceremony during Congress
